About the Book
In the beginning, there were no gods. Only silence.
Then came Death—and the first world died screaming.
On Akaedia, gods live as mortals. They are reborn again and again: their memories stripped, their power forgotten. Civilizations rise, fall, and rot in familiar patterns. No one remembers why.
No one except Nike.
She has lived every version of this world—watched it burn and rebuild itself on the same bones. She knows how this ends.
So she stopped trying to change it.
Until a gladiator throws down his sword in the coliseum—and the earth answers him.
For the first time in millennia, the future isn’t certain.
Nike decides to try again.
Now the past is not past. It’s breaking through. The old gods are stirring. And the truth—long buried—is clawing its way back into the light.
Because when the gods remember, they don’t rise quietly.
They wake Death.
And nothing that follows will be gentle.
